One record

Keeping the record is half the pleasure.

Every model has a story — where you found it, what you paid, why it earned its shelf space. This is what one of them looks like in iDiecast, with all of that given a proper home.

Found at the spring show after two years of looking. Slight box wear on one corner, the model itself is perfect. The one I’d grab first.

How it works

Everything a collection needs, in four tabs.

Owning, chasing, waiting and knowing — each gets its own tab. Tap one to jump to it. Screens shown with sample data and illustrated models.

Collection

Every model, properly recorded.

Add a model with a photo, or scan its barcode and let iDiecast fill in what it can. Then make the record yours: any scale, brand, series, year, condition, what you paid, and the notes only you would think to keep.

  • Sort into named collections — by scale, brand, shelf, whatever makes sense to you
  • Search and filter by anything you’ve recorded, plus favourites
  • Prices in the currency you paid, converted at that day’s rate
The Collection tab: a searchable grid of owned models with scale and maker on each card, and a 25 of 50 records meter.
Wishlist

The hunt, organised.

Keep the models you’re chasing in one list with a priority and a target price. Walk into a shop or a show knowing exactly what you’re after — and never buy the same casting twice.

  • Research & listings opens eBay and retailer searches in your browser
  • Tap Acquired and it moves into your collection with the details intact
  • A running target budget for everything on your radar
The Wishlist tab: models on your radar with scale, priority and target price, plus Research and Acquired buttons.
Orders

Paid for, not here yet.

Preorder enough and it’s easy to lose track of what’s coming. Orders keeps the whole queue in view — who from, what you paid, when it should land — so nothing arrives as a surprise and nothing gets ordered twice.

  • Preorder, on order, shipped, arrived — with the tracking number where there is one
  • Move it into your collection the day it turns up, without retyping anything
  • Cancelled orders don’t count against your free allowance

Order status and tracking are entered by you. Retailers and carriers aren’t contacted automatically.

The Orders tab: active orders listed with seller and status, such as On order, Shipped and Preorder.
Insights

Your collection, in numbers.

Total spent, average price by scale, and how the collection has grown over time — worked out from the prices you enter, using the exchange rate saved on the day you bought.

  • Breakdowns by scale, so you can see where the collection leans
  • Spending history over a week, a month, a year or all time
  • Based on what you paid — no marketplace or external valuations
The Insights tab: total spent, average price paid by scale, and a spending history chart.
Three days in a collector’s year

The record earns its keep on the days that matter.

Show day

At the show

Your wishlist is in your pocket with a target price against every model. You know what you’re after, what it’s worth to you, and what you already own — before the table is in front of you.

Drop day

The preorder wave

Three drops in a month, four sellers, one from overseas. Orders holds the whole queue — who, what, how much, when — so the parcel that turns up in November was never a mystery.

Thinning the herd

When a big collection becomes a curated one, you want to know what you paid for each piece before it goes. Sold models stay in the record without counting against your allowance.

FAQs

The ones collectors actually ask.

Do I need an account?

No. Every collection feature works without one. Sign in with Apple or an email address only if you want a profile — and even then, your collection stays on your phone.

Is it a subscription?

No. Free covers 50 owned or ordered models and 250 wishlist entries. If you outgrow that, PRO is a single one-time purchase. There’s no trial and nothing recurring.

What happens when I hit 50 models on Free?

Nothing dramatic. Everything you’ve saved stays editable, movable and exportable. You just can’t add more owned or ordered models until you unlock PRO. Sold and cancelled records never count.

Can it identify a model from a photo?

Not from a photo. It can scan a barcode and fill in what it finds, and you can attach your own photos. iDiecast is a record of your collection, not a price guide.

Does it track shipping automatically?

No — you enter the status and tracking number, and the app keeps them with the order. Carrier links open in your browser. Nothing contacts a retailer on your behalf.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, any time. Export the whole collection to CSV, or back it up to a file you choose. Because there’s no iDiecast server, there’s nothing on our side to delete.

Which scales can I track?

Any. The common ones — 1:12, 1:18, 1:24, 1:43, 1:64, 1:87 — are presets, along with the less common ones from 1:6 up to 1:160, and there’s a custom field for anything else. Mix them in one collection or keep them apart.

Which currencies does it handle?

Any. Record what you paid in the currency you paid, and iDiecast converts to your display currency using the exchange rate from that day, not today’s.

Android?

iPhone only for now.

Works offline

The app is usable without a connection. It reaches out only for barcode lookup, currency rates and the links you choose to open.

Sign-in is optional

Sign in with Apple or an email address if you want a profile. Every collection feature works without one.

Your data leaves when you say so

Backups and CSV exports go to files you pick, in places you control. There’s nothing to delete on our side because we never had it.
